Industry News: ChatGPT ads gain AI creative tools and CRM commerce integrations

Enterprise brands can reduce campaign setup effort, but should validate creative approvals, account permissions and downstream conversion quality before expanding spend.

TLDR;

OpenAI added AI creative tools and HubSpot and Shopify integrations to ChatGPT Ads. That makes campaigns easier to create and manage, with international Shopify access scheduled for September 23. Brands should check generated claims, permissions and conversion quality before increasing spend.

What happened

In its September 16 announcement, OpenAI introduced prompt-based campaign management, creative suggestions and optional text customisation. Advertisers can review suggested copy and imagery before using them. The optional customisation adapts existing headlines and descriptions to the conversation and translates copy into the user's preferred language.

HubSpot users can connect an advertising account, manage ads, review performance and follow up on leads through the integration. OpenAI also announced the Shopify app for US merchants, with international availability planned for September 23 wherever ChatGPT Ads are supported. Reuters reported the combined advertising update. The date here records OpenAI's announcement, rather than claiming that every account or earlier app listing first became available that day.

Why it matters

The useful change is operational. Brands can bring another advertising channel closer to the systems that already hold product and customer information. That may reduce manual setup, but it does not establish that the resulting campaigns are profitable. Easier production can also scale a bad brief faster. If a landing page contains an ambiguous offer or an outdated product claim, a plausible creative suggestion still needs correction before it reaches customers.

Optional text adaptation deserves a separate decision from ordinary draft assistance. Reviewing a proposed ad before launch is different from permitting its wording to change for context or language. Enterprise teams should establish which claims and qualifications must remain intact, then check what the current product lets them observe and control. Do not assume a central approval automatically covers every translated interpretation.

The integrations also change who can operate campaigns and where performance is discussed. A familiar CRM or commerce interface can make a new channel feel mature, even when its reporting conditions differ. Paid media, commerce and sales teams need shared definitions of a valuable conversion. A campaign that creates many inexpensive form submissions may still fail if few become suitable customers.

How your brand can benefit / be affected

Start with one product group or lead journey and a capped budget. Use an approved brief containing the actual offer, intended customer, restrictions and destination. Review generated copy against those facts. Check that images represent the relevant product and that the destination preserves the advertised terms. Treat the suggestions as material for review, rather than evidence that the platform has verified your commercial promise.

Decide explicitly whether to enable text customisation. Review priority languages with local owners and investigate wording that could broaden an eligibility condition or imply an unsupported benefit. Keep the approved source and campaign settings recorded so later problems can be traced. International merchants should confirm actual access after September 23; a scheduled rollout is not current availability on September 17.

Validate account permissions before distributing the workflow. OpenAI's identity documentation distinguishes advertising roles from ChatGPT workspace or API organisation access. Confirm who can change campaigns, who reviews spend and how access is removed when responsibilities change. Then reconcile conversions with orders or qualified CRM outcomes. Judge the pilot on net contribution and customer quality, keeping paid results separate from organic AI visibility. Faster setup is useful only when the brand retains control of what it sells and can demonstrate that the demand is worth serving.
